Getting the following error: ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer fatal: Could not read from remote repository. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists

Hello,
Trying to determine why I keep getting the following error:

ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

I also received a similar error message to what is found on this Linux page: https://www.linuxnix.com/linuxunixhow-to-delete-particular-ssh-keys/

I received both errors, at different times, when trying to do a git clone for the Git Hub exercise. I have created the repository so it does in fact exist. I tried deleting the original ssh key, redid ssh key, added to git hub, but I still get the error.

Some of the sites I have looked at say that I might be on a block list. I’m not sure how that works or what to do next. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Sally

What are you trying to do that is giving you that error?

#3

I am following the instructions for the Practicing Git Basics project. When I follow number 5 using $ git clone, I get the error listed in the subject line. I tried again today, and received the following error:

What’s the output of ssh -v in your terminal?

#5

ssh-keygen -R 192.30.253.112 should hopefully resolve the issue.
